About Arkansas Presbytery
A fellowship of Reformed congregations committed to the historic faith, sound doctrine, and the flourishing of Christ's church across Arkansas.
Our Mission
The Arkansas Presbytery exists to shepherd churches and pastors together—providing oversight, ordination, discipline, mission, and unity—so that Christ's church is governed faithfully and protected from error.
Our Presbytery
The Arkansas Presbytery's bounds cover most of Arkansas, except for the counties of Benton, Carroll, Washington, Madison, and Boone.
How We Are Governed
Presbyterian governance is built on the principle of shared, accountable leadership through a plurality of elders.
Session
Each local congregation is governed by its Session — a body of ruling and teaching elders elected by the congregation and ordained to shepherd the flock.
Presbytery
The Presbytery is composed of all teaching elders (ministers) and ruling elder commissioners from member congregations. It oversees the planting of new churches, examines and ordains ministers, and provides mutual accountability.
General Assembly
The General Assembly is the highest governing body of the PCA, meeting annually and composed of commissioners from all presbyteries across the denomination.
Our Doctrinal Standards
Arkansas Presbytery holds to the Westminster Standards as its subordinate confessional standards, subject always to the supreme authority of Holy Scripture.
Westminster Confession of Faith
A comprehensive summary of Reformed doctrine covering Scripture, God, creation, sin, salvation, the church, and last things.
Westminster Larger Catechism
An extended catechism designed for corporate worship and deeper theological instruction.
Westminster Shorter Catechism
A concise catechism for personal and family instruction, beginning with the famous question: 'What is the chief end of man?'
